Unity introduces enhanced online shopping security with 3D Secure
Protecting Your Online Shopping Experience
Posted April 2024
Unity is proud to announce the introduction of 3D Secure, an innovative security measure designed to safeguard your online transactions. Online shopping is becoming increasingly popular with our members, so ensuring the security of these transactions is more important than ever.
Through 3D Secure, we are taking proactive steps to strengthen members’ safety and provide them with peace of mind while shopping online.
What is 3D Secure?
3D Secure is an advanced online authentication system. It adds an additional layer of security to your online transactions by confirming the identity of the cardholder. You will receive an authentication code on the mobile phone number registered to your Unity account if you make an online purchase that triggers 3D Secure. This code is then entered into the checkout page online, verifying you as the cardholder and allowing you to complete your transaction securely.
What transactions won’t trigger 3D Secure?
Any purchases you make with your card present (those made in person) won’t require 3D Secure. You can continue to make these types of purchases by swiping, inserting or tapping your card at the merchant’s premises.
Why update your mobile number?
Having your correct mobile number registered with Unity is crucial to take full advantage of the added security features provided by 3D Secure. Without the correct mobile number, you may not be able to complete your transaction securely or the transaction may be declined.
How to update your mobile number:
Updating your mobile number is simple. Call our Contact Centre team on 0800 229 943 and our friendly team will assist you in ensuring that we have the correct mobile phone number on file.
Unity is committed to maintaining the highest standards of security for our valued members. With 3D Secure, you can shop online with confidence, knowing that your transactions are protected by an additional layer of security. It is important to note, however, that you will still need to do your own due diligence before using a merchant. Always ensure the business is legitimate and that you understand all costs involved with the transaction. Never enter your card details into a website you are not familiar with and always check for https at the start of the website URL to ensure your data is secure when entered.
