Depositor Compensation Scheme
An extra layer of protection for your money.

From 1 July 2025, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) will introduce the Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS) to protect your money.
Up to $100,000 will be protected at each registered financial provider that manages your accounts. The DCS will come into effect if they are unable to meet their financial obligations to you. Registered financial providers includes credit unions, banks, building societies and finance companies in New Zealand.
You don’t have to pay anything for your money to be protected by the DCS. It’s paid for by the registered financial providers and backed by the RBNZ.
